This movie definitely isn't for everyone, but I really enjoyed it. After watching this movie I found myself feeling entertained and somewhat impressed, while at the same time feeling confused and kind of angry. Which is a feeling completely new to me that I don't dislike.

It's easier to hate something and call it confusing instead of applying yourself, paying attention, understanding what was actually a pretty straight-forward plot and thinking about it for days. Most people are way too lazy to think and have way too short of an attention span for this movie.

I didn't watch it THREE times, but I did watch it TWICE. The second time helped, with the easter eggs for the Twilight actor character, and realizing if time was current or backwards, depending on how the characters came into / exited the Inverter machine(s).

missed the opportunity to reference the frequent info dumps. It's like one character was inserted purely to explain everything but does a poor job of it and then has to explain why the explanations are still going on when we're advised in the beginning not to try and understand it. And anyway, why is time suddenly binary - one direction or the other - when the other three dimensions have no such constraint?

isn't the protagonist not really having a character or being fleshed out the exact point though? the grandfather paradox here was resolved towards the determinist side - what happened happened but what will happen will also happen. no one could escape temporal predetermination here, so they never quite made choices that weren't preordained, if you will. and if they didn't they didn't actually have any proper challenges or arcs and thus they aren't really the kind of autonomous individuals that we associate with narrative characters
